First introduced in California in 1899 between then and 1940 they were imported for fur use throughout the U.S. When the Nutria Fur trade collapsed in the United States in the early 1940s business owners simply let the animals go free. State and federal agencies as well as individuals relocated Nutria in the 1940s to southern states to control vegetation. Louisiana became ground zero when the state intentionally introduced 20 Nutria into marshes. By the mid-1950s those few animals had some 20 million descendants calling Louisiana home and causing huge environmental damage.

These fibers strengthen the cornea and prevent it from swelling and turning cloudy, like human corneas can. Scientists are studying shark corneas to learn how to better treat human corneal disease. And in fact, shark corneas have been successfully used for human corneal transplants
like/reblogRed Lotus Lake, located in Kumphawapi, Thailand, is most beautiful in the low season between February and November, when the flowers are in full bloom. The water can only be visited on wooden boats which are hired out by the locals. This lake is also home to around 80 species of bird which includes the endangered grey heron, purple heron, and black kite.
